I am working on putting together a system to monitor several Siemens PLCs provided by an OEM. This OEM used S7-314 PLCs which don't have Ethernet on them. They instead used a Helmholz NETLink PRO Compact Profibus Ethernet Gateway to get it to communicate over an Ethernet network to other devices. https://www.helmholz.com/prod.d,80_92_93.html?p_id=142
This device integrates into the S7 PG/PC interface that Step7 uses, and you can program and get online with the PLC via Step7 through this device. It communicates over RFC 1006 (ISO on TCP). Can I point the classic WinCCOA S7 driver at this device and expect it to work? Has anyone used this device before with WinCCOA? I know that I can connect up via OPC but I would like to know if there is a simpler way to connect to this device I really don't want to have some middle-ware handling the communications if I can help it. Both for easier setup and troubleshooting and due to cost concerns.
Thanks.

Re: Helmholz NETLink PRO Compact, PROFIBUS Ethernet gateway
I do not see any reason why it should not work.
